The Winneba Divisional Police Command has arrested six individuals involved in a recruitment scam that defrauded dozens of unsuspecting job seekers in Effutu, located in Ghana’s Central Region.
According to police reports, the suspects posed as representatives of an “independent distributor” affiliated with Neo Life Company Limited, offering fake job opportunities and extorting money from vulnerable individuals under false pretenses.
Divisional Crime Officer, ASP George Quainoo, told Adom News that the suspects were distributing cards and advertising fictitious employment offers, primarily targeting the unemployed youth in the Winneba area.
As part of the operation, police rescued 54 victims—comprising 15 Nigerians and 39 Ghanaians—who had fallen prey to the fraudulent scheme.
Investigations identified a Nigerian national, Oladokun Kehinde, as the alleged ringleader behind the operation. Kehinde, who does not possess a valid work permit, is currently in police custody and assisting with further investigations.
ASP Quainoo urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers to the authorities, warning of the growing trend of job-related scams targeting desperate job seekers.
