A naming ceremony at Gbawe Zero in the Greater Accra Region turned tragic on Friday, June 20, 2025, when a violent altercation led to a shooting incident that claimed one life and left another person critically injured.
According to initial reports, the violence erupted during a clash between two rival Asafoatse—traditional warrior leaders—sparking chaos at what was meant to be a peaceful and joyous occasion.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the dispute escalated quickly, ending in gunfire that struck two individuals. One of the victims died on the spot, while the other is currently receiving treatment at the Legon Hospital.
The Gbawe Police have since taken over the investigation but are yet to issue an official statement regarding the identities of those involved or the motive behind the confrontation.
Authorities are urging calm as investigations continue into the tragic incident, which has left the local community in shock.
