The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that the Ministry of Finance has released funds for the payment of allowances owed to its Temporary Staff. The announcement was made in an official press statement signed by the Chairperson of the Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
According to the statement, the funds were received from the Ministry of Finance earlier the same day, paving the way for the long-awaited disbursement to temporary workers who served during various EC operations in the 2024 Elections.
“The Commission is working round the clock to ensure that payments are made promptly,” the statement assured, noting that all eligible temporary staff should expect to receive their allowances on or before Friday, June 20, 2025.
The EC expressed appreciation to its temporary workers for their patience and cooperation during the delay in payments.
Mrs. Jean Mensa reaffirmed the EC’s commitment to upholding transparency and fairness in all its dealings, especially with those who support the Commission’s critical operations on the ground.
This development comes after increasing calls from affected staff for clarity on when their allowances would be paid.
The Commission’s confirmation of the fund release is expected to bring relief and assurance to the many individuals who contributed to the Commission’s electoral and administrative efforts.
