Rev. Israel Eshun, founder of God Host Favour Chapel and operator of the Yesu Agyemie Herbal Centre, has been arrested for allegedly burying his deceased two-year-old son in secret.
According to reports, Rev. Eshun is said to have buried the child inside a room on the church premises without informing his wife or any other family member. The act has stunned both his wife, Mrs. Christian Marcathy—popularly known as Maame Ama—and residents of the community.
Mrs. Marcathy revealed that their son had been admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where doctors advised the family to take him home to spend his final moments. Rev. Eshun reportedly returned home before the rest of the family, and when the child passed away, he allegedly buried him alone without notifying anyone.
It was only after she questioned her husband about the child’s whereabouts that Maame Ama, who is eight months pregnant, was shown where the boy had been buried. She then reported the matter to the police.
Rev. Eshun allegedly tried to flee but was arrested when he returned to the premises to collect some belongings. During police interrogation, he admitted to the secret burial.
In addition to the burial incident, Mrs. Marcathy has accused her husband of repeated physical abuse throughout her pregnancy, stating that she had previously reported the assaults to neighbours and the police.
