Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has sharply criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent comments on President Akufo-Addo’s legacy.
Speaking recently, Dr. Bawumia — the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections — compared Akufo-Addo’s leadership to that of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, suggesting that, like Kufuor, Akufo-Addo would eventually be vindicated by history despite current criticisms.
However, Franklin Cudjoe firmly rejected this comparison. In a blunt response, he stated, “No way. It will never happen. From now, Akufo-Addo remains the worst terrible leader since 1844.”
Cudjoe’s strong reaction reflects the deep discontent among critics of the Akufo-Addo administration, which has come under heavy fire for its handling of economic challenges and governance issues.
While Bawumia expressed confidence that posterity would judge Akufo-Addo more kindly, Cudjoe’s remarks underline the growing frustration and belief among many Ghanaians that the president’s tenure has caused lasting damage to the country.
