Ghanaian singer and songwriter Cina Soul has shed light on the struggles women face in the music industry, stating that they often have to work “ten times harder” than their male counterparts to succeed.

Speaking on TV3’s Ladies’ Circle during a panel discussion, the Ojorley hitmaker highlighted the imbalance that exists within the entertainment space. She pointed out that despite the dedication and effort female artists put into their craft, they are frequently overlooked and receive less recognition and support compared to their male peers.

Cina Soul stressed that this lack of equal opportunity makes it even more challenging for women to thrive in the industry, urging for more awareness and support to help level the playing field.

“I feel like we work ten times harder than the boys. Anyone can argue, but personally, that’s how I feel. We have to work harder because the attention is always on us.

“The littlest things we do can be blown out of proportion. We work very hard; we just need more support,” she said.

She also reflected on her personal growth and a milestone in her music career, pointing to a new level of consistency in releasing her songs.

“For a long time in my career, I barely dropped three songs within a year, but for the first time last year, I dropped three songs in the year,” she said.
