The Minority in Parliament has strongly condemned what it calls an attempt to intimidate Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Interior and Defence Committee and MP for Assin South, by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
This follows allegations made by the MP regarding two suspicious flights at the Kotoka International Airport, which he claimed were transporting drugs and cash.
Speaking to the media after a failed attempt to arrest Fordjour at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed the caucus’ full support for their colleague, emphasizing their refusal to be intimidated.
Afenyo-Markin described the actions of the NIB as politically motivated and intended to silence opposition voices within Parliament. He reiterated that the Minority is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the investigation of Fordjour’s allegations and emphasized the need for due process to be followed.
He further urged the public to stay vigilant and support efforts to uphold justice and fairness.
