The Auditor-General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, is preparing to conduct a nationwide payroll audit that will cover all entities under the Controller and Accountant-General’s payroll system, including subvented organizations.
In an official statement, the Office of the Auditor-General confirmed that the audit will examine the payroll records of Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and subvented bodies from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024.
As part of the exercise, a comprehensive headcount of all government employees will also be carried out.
The affected institutions have been urged to grant auditors full and unrestricted access to all relevant documents, including both physical and electronic records, to ensure the success of the audit.
“The Office of the Auditor-General requests all institutions to facilitate the audit by providing unhindered access to their books, returns, and other documents,” the statement emphasized, stressing the importance of a smooth and timely process.
