The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has taken a swipe at the Ashanti Regional Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Frank Amoakohene, asserting that no effort of his can weaken the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the Old Tafo MP dismissed claims that Dr. Amoakohene’s growing popularity and developmental efforts could threaten the NPP’s dominance in the region.
His comments come in response to the widespread applause the minister has received for his commitment to developing the Ashanti Region, despite having been in office for less than three months.
“No matter what Dr. Frank Amoakohene does, he cannot weaken the base of the NPP in Ashanti Region,” Vincent Ekow Assafuah firmly stated.
The Ashanti Region has long been recognized as the political stronghold of the NPP, and recent discussions about Dr. Amoakohene’s efforts have sparked debates on whether the NDC could make significant inroads in the region.
However, Assafuah remains confident that the loyalty of Ashanti voters to the NPP remains unshaken.
He emphasized that the NPP’s track record of development and its deep-rooted connection with the people of the Ashanti Region make it nearly impossible for the NDC to dislodge the ruling party’s influence.
