The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is mourning the tragic loss of one of its students following an unfortunate incident on campus.
In an official statement, KNUST Management confirmed that Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year Biological Sciences student, was found lifeless near the Disability and Rehabilitation Centre in the early hours of February 27, 2025.
University Security Services received the report at approximately 5:00 a.m. and swiftly transported the body to University Health Services, where she was pronounced dead. The University has since informed her family and extended its deepest condolences.
A comprehensive investigation is now underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The University assured students and staff that it is taking all necessary measures to uncover the facts and reinforce campus safety.
In its statement, KNUST urged students and the public to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the bereaved family during this difficult time.
