A District Court in Accra has remanded Samuel Adjei into police custody in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred during an enstoolment ceremony at Nungua in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Adjei, who has been charged with murder, appeared before the court on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, and has been ordered to remain in custody until his next court appearance on Wednesday, 12th March 2025.
According to the Ghana Police Service, preliminary investigations revealed that Adjei allegedly discharged live ammunition from a single-barrel gun during the ceremony, striking the deceased, Naa Borley Ahmed, in the right thigh.
She was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
Following his arrest, the suspect was put before the court, where he was formally charged and remanded.
The case has since drawn public attention, raising concerns over the handling of firearms at traditional ceremonies.
Authorities continue their investigations as Adjei awaits his next court hearing.
