The National Identification Authority (NIA) has disclosed that more than 600,000 printed Ghana Cards, dating back to 2018, remain uncollected at its regional and district offices.

In a statement dated February 18, 2025, the NIA announced that it has received 700,000 blank cards to address a backlog of unprinted cards from 2023.

These blank cards will be used to process pending records, including first-time issuances, card replacements, and updates to personal information.

To accelerate the process, Acting Executive Secretary Wisdom Kwaku Deku has established a technical team to fast-track printing and ensure prompt delivery of the cards to district offices for issuance.

The NIA has urged the public to collect their unclaimed Ghana Cards, which have remained idle for years.

Additionally, the authority assured citizens that it is working on an efficient system to distribute the unclaimed cards, though specific details of the plan have yet to be disclosed.
