President John Mahama has praised Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, for his vision in establishing the Cedar Mountain Chapel.
Speaking at the Cedar Mountain Chapel of Assemblies of God in East Legon, President Mahama likened Reverend Wengam’s achievement to the parable of the mustard seed, which grows into a mighty tree.
The President expressed his delight in having supported Reverend Wengam’s efforts when he was Vice President, serving as a guarantor for a loan to fund the church project.
President Mahama also emphasized the importance of prayer, citing the example of the United States, which sets aside a day for national thanksgiving and prayer. He announced plans to form a committee to organize a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving in Ghana.
Reverend Wengam, in his sermon titled “The Awesome Deeds of Prayer,” highlighted the importance of prioritizing prayer, citing the example of Daniel, who prayed three times a day despite being a busy prime minister.
The General Superintendent encouraged believers to love prayer, emphasizing its power to change the unchangeable and withstand any challenge. He warned against being part-time believers, stressing the need for consistency and commitment in prayer.
The event was attended by key pastors, board members, and government officials. Reverend Wengam led a prayer session for God’s protection for the President and the prosperity of the nation.
