Nsoatreman FC has decided to withdraw from the Ghana Premier League following a violent clash during their Matchday 19 fixture against Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronmansah Park on Sunday afternoon.
The incident led to the tragic death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, a member of Asante Kotoko’s Supporters’ Communication Team.
He was reportedly stabbed by unidentified assailants.
Confirming the club’s decision, Gyempeh told MAX FM that Nsoatreman FC has formally informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their withdrawal from the league.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, both clubs have pledged full cooperation with authorities to support investigations.
The GFA has since indefinitely suspended Nsoatreman FC’s home venue, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor has been appointed to lead the inquiry into the incident.
Despite the chaos, the match ended with a 1-0 victory for the defending FA Cup champions.
