The Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has pledged to enhance the working conditions of public sector employees if approved.
Speaking during his vetting on Thursday, Dr. Pelpuo acknowledged the dedication and commitment of Ghanaian workers. He emphasized the need for fair wages that reflect workers’ contributions while addressing productivity concerns.
“I’m sure you are referring to fair payment for work done and the challenge of ensuring that productivity matches earnings. How do we reconcile this?” he questioned.
The Wa Central MP stressed the importance of equitable wages and called for policy measures to ensure competitive salaries for workers.
“This is a major issue, and I am committed to addressing it. If my nomination is approved, I will prioritize it because it affects all Ghanaians,” he stated.
Dr. Pelpuo reaffirmed his belief in the hardworking nature of Ghanaian employees but emphasized the need for policy direction to enhance productivity.
“We need a structured approach that allows workers to increase output while ensuring that their earnings are fair and meaningful. This will be a key focus, and I am committed to working on it,” he assured.
His commitment signals a potential shift towards better labor policies aimed at improving the welfare of Ghanaian workers.
