The Appointments Committee of Parliament has issued a summons to Political Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor regarding his bribery allegations against its members.
Mr. Barker-Vormawor has been invited to provide evidence to support his claims that the committee has been accepting money from ministerial nominees in exchange for approval.
Chairman of the Committee and Akatsi South MP, Bernard Ahiafor, has strongly refuted the accusations. He stated that neither he nor any other committee members have participated in such unethical practices. Mr. Ahiafor has called for concrete evidence to back up the allegations.
As a result, the Clerk of the Committee has been directed to formally request Mr. Barker-Vormawor’s presence before the committee.
Mr. Barker-Vormawor is scheduled to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, January 29th.
“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law,” Mr. Ahiafor stated.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Appointments Committee and its processes.
Meanwhile, the Minority members on the committee are demanding that the proceedings be suspended until finality is brought to the matter.
The Minority argued that their reputation is all they have had as lawmakers and cannot play ostrich for it to be ran down.”
