Ashanti Regional Minister nominee, Frank Amoakohene has pledged to utilise his social media platforms to promote good governance and engage with the people of the region.
Mr Amoakohene believes it is imperative that he leverages his digital presence to foster development and inspire young people to participate in the region’s progress.
He said this during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, January 27.
Reflecting on his experience with youth leadership, Amoakohene noted that the landscape of community interaction has evolved significantly.
In times past, when I was young, my father would send me to the community center, where they go to play, ‘Ludo’, ‘Dame’ among others. In recent times, those centers do not exist. There’s a new society known as social media, where we get the opportunity to share ideas and also to interact,” he said.
He explained that his active presence on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok has allowed him to understand and engage with the region’s youth effectively.
The nominee assured the committee that he would use his significant social media following to champion good governance and promote the government’s developmental agenda.
“I want to assure the house that I’m not going to overly rely on social media. However, the platforms will be available so that the youth who would want to reach me can still send a message, and there will be a team there who will look at the messages and draw my attention, in order that I will be able to assist them when need be,” he added.
He also highlighted plans to maintain a responsive team to ensure that concerns raised on these platforms are addressed promptly, further demonstrating his commitment to transparency and youth engagement.
