Mrs. Grace Nana Ama Oparah, also known as Ohemaa Kwartemaa, the Founder of the Ohemaa Kwartemaa Foundation, has made a commitment to offer full scholarships to exceptionally talented female students in Aboaso, located in the Kwabre East Municipal of the Ashanti Region.
Originally from Ghana but now residing in the United States of America, Mrs. Oparah is not only an entrepreneur but also a dedicated philanthropist.
She recently announced this initiative while presenting exercise books and mathematical sets to schools in the community.
The beneficiary schools include Asante Gyapong R/C JHS and B, as well as Aboaso M/A JHS.
Mrs. Oparah’s journey to success was not an easy one. Born in Abotreye, a village near Assin Kushea in the Assin North District of the Central Region, she had to walk 10 miles each day to school from Abotreye to Atweneboanna.
Despite these challenges, she became the first female in the area to pass the common entrance exam at the age of 17. Through hard work, she earned a master’s degree and has held positions such as Auditor at Obuasi Ashanti Goldfields, Branch Manager for NIB, and currently resides in the USA.
During her presentation, Mrs. Oparah encouraged the students to respect their teachers, parents, and elders. She also promised to provide sanitary pads to the girls every quarter of the year.
The Circuit Supervisor for Aboaso Circuit, Mrs. Joyce Ampeh, expressed gratitude for the support and requested a computer lab for the schools.
Mr. Eric Kyei Marfo, the Headmaster of Aboaso M/A JHS, was extremely thankful for the foundation’s assistance and requested an extension of the scholarship program to include talented boys as well.
