Former Chief of Staff under President John Kufuor, Kwadwo Mpiani, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) significant loss in the 2024 elections to the removal of Paul Afoko as chairman and Kwabena Agyapong as general secretary.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Mpiani emphasized that the party’s problems began when Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, were ousted from their positions.
He noted that this decision created an environment where people were afraid to speak up, allowing the party to become overly dominated by the executive branch.
Mpiani expressed regret that his warnings about the party’s downward trend were ignored by his colleagues.
He stated that the party’s failure to listen to the concerns of its members and the general public ultimately led to their defeat in the elections.
