Alexander Afenyo-Markin recently provided valuable insights into the current political landscape in the aftermath of the recent general election.
As the outgoing Majority Leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Afenyo-Markin highlighted the emerging internal conflicts within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he predicts will significantly influence the party’s trajectory moving forward.
Reflecting on Monday’s parliamentary session, Afenyo-Markin observed, “Already in Parliament on Monday, we saw a few things.
“In Parliament, we see things with our own eyes and hear things”, he said on Joy FM.
“Their internal struggle for leadership has started; they have already begun their campaign for who will succeed Mahama.”
He hinted at tensions within the NDC, which may come to light more prominently in the years leading up to the 2028 elections.
However, when pressed for details on which MPs were involved in these leadership discussions, Afenyo-Markin kept the information close to his chest.
“I will not disclose the names of the MPs who have started these conversations.
All of this will be factored into what happens in 2028,” he said.
Afenyo-Markin also expressed his belief that the public will soon see the NDC’s true nature and could regret their choice in the 2024 elections.
“I am confident that the public will soon see the true nature of the NDC and may regret giving them power in the just-ended general election,” he added, suggesting that the NDC’s actions and internal conflicts may have consequences for their political standing in the future.
