The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has alluded to the leadership’s plan to investigate the party’s recent defeat in the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to Wontumi, the party has yet to call on all stakeholders within the party fraternity, especially within the Ashanti region, to help investigate what went wrong in the election.
Addressing the media in a press conference on December 9, 2024, he stated, “If it is a time to cry and you don’t cry, people will talk about it. And if it is time to laugh and you don’t laugh, people will talk about it. So, God knows why he created crying and laughing.
“It didn’t go well for us, but the NPP branch in the Ashanti region will very soon call on all the leaders of the party in the Ashanti region, regional executives, MPs, PCs, MMDCEs, constituency executives, and regional council members to investigate what went wrong and bring it to the attention of the public.
“But for now, we are at a loss. What is important is to bounce back for Ghana and Asanteman to be better again.”
