The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Techiman, located in the Bono East Region.
The incident reportedly occurred while the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza.
Initial reports indicate that some individuals, believed to be local youth from Techiman, threw stones at buses within the convoy.
In a statement, the police reaffirmed their commitment to uncovering the truth behind the incident. They disclosed ongoing collaboration with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other key stakeholders in Techiman to support the investigation.
The Police have appealed for calm as efforts continue to determine the facts of the case.
“We encourage the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as we conduct our investigation,” the statement said.
