The Senior Campaign Adviser to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed disappointment over remarks made by former Environment Minister, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, regarding the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Kwabena Agyei Agyepong stated that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments, which described the NPP as disunited and fragmented, were unacceptable.
In a recent interview, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng revealed that he no longer feels connected to the NPP. He cited a decline in the party’s adherence to principles such as the rule of law and the separation of powers as reasons for his disconnection.
Additionally, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng expressed dissatisfaction with legal actions taken against him by party members implicated in his report on environmental violations.
The Senior Campaign Adviser emphasized the importance of unity within the NPP and urged all members to work together towards a common goal.
During an interview with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa TV’s political show, Campaign Trail, Mr. Agyepong rebutted Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s assertions, asserting that the party remains cohesive despite the difficulties of being in power for eight years.
“Sometimes, when some of our leaders speak like this, I find it disconcerting. Prof Frimpong-Boateng served as a cabinet minister for four years.
“Could he have described the party or government in the same way back then, while he was part of it? If you are a patriot of your party, you don’t run it down,” Mr Agyepong said.
