Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has dismissed the recent polls predicting a lead for the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, in the upcoming 2024 general election.
A survey conducted by political analyst Prof. Smart Sarpong has shown that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the most popular political party in the country among Ghanaian voters.
Despite the NDC’s popularity, the survey found that when it comes to the presidential candidate, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, leads with 38.9% support.
The flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, comes in a close second with 36.1% support.
Meanwhile, surveys by many organizations like Global InfoAnalytics have predicted a one-touch victory for the opposition NDC’s flagbearer, John Mahama.
Reacting to Prof. Sarpong’s poll during a conversation with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Monday, 25, 2024, the North Tongu lawmaker described the survey as useless.
“Let me be blunt and frank, it’s bogus, discredited, and totally useless, it’s the big joke in town . We have our internal polls, and I know where we are. In addition to that, credible organizations like Fetch, EIU Global InfoAnalytics, all the polls I have seen, Prof. Smart Sarpong’s poll is an outlier.”
