The Election Security Task Force has engaged with the National Chief Imam and the Muslim community at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, to assure them of maximum security protection before, during, and after the upcoming general elections.
Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Lansa Seidu, representing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), gave the assurance, stating that the task force has put in place measures to ensure that Ghanaians can go about their daily routines on election day without any intimidation.
Seidu urged the Muslim community to report any suspicious activities to the police, enabling swift action to maintain peace and stability. He commended the community for their good behavior throughout the electoral process and encouraged them to continue doing so, emphasizing that Ghana’s unity and peace are paramount.
The Election Security Task Force’s engagement with the National Chief Imam and the Muslim community is part of its efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure electoral process.
Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah Akrofi, Head of Public Affairs Directorate at the Ghana Police Service, emphasized the importance of unity among Ghanaians ahead of the December 7th polls.
She noted that the Elections Security Task Force will continue to engage with all stakeholders to promote a sense of oneness and peace throughout the electoral process ¹.
Akrofi urged Ghanaians to be mindful of the peace in the country and to rally behind the Elections Security Task Force. She assured that the task force is committed to providing maximum security protection to all Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliation.
Alhaji Mulik, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Mosque, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Elections Security Task Force for engaging with the Muslim community ahead of the general election. He commended the task force’s assurance of maximum security protection on election day, stating that it’s highly commendable.
Alhaji Mulik also assured that the notion of attributing election-related violence to Muslims will be a thing of the past in this year’s general election. He highlighted initiatives championed by the National Chief Imam to educate youth within the Zongo community on the importance of staying away from election violence.
