The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on political parties to focus on presenting well-thought-out policies to the electorate, rather than engaging in divisive or inflammatory rhetoric.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 20, ahead of the December 7 general elections, Otumfuo stressed the importance of maintaining peace and urged political actors to refrain from actions or remarks that could incite violence.

He advocated for a campaign atmosphere centered on constructive dialogue and national unity.

His remarks came during a visit by Kofi Akpaloo, the Presidential Candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), who, along with his party’s leadership, sought Otumfuo’s support and blessings for the upcoming elections.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II emphasized that the elections should showcase Ghana’s democratic progress, urging all stakeholders to prioritize peace and development.

“It seems my children are those contesting in the elections, and yes, Kofi is one of them. I pray for his success and for everything to proceed peacefully. I’ve seen his flyers in town, and we trust in God’s power to sustain Ghana.

“Winning an election requires patience. I pray my son Kofi succeeds, and I know he will visit again if he wins. I also appreciate my in-laws and everyone supporting him. The entire team must work together to ensure peace prevails,” he added.
