Former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwaa, recently disclosed a surprising revelation regarding an ailment that afflicted Dela Edem, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team several years ago.
Amankwaa revealed that Dela was suffering from a hernia disease known in the local parlance as “Etwo”, and it was only through the intervention of Ex-President Kufuor’s Health Insurance Policy that a surgical operation was able to cure the ailment.
This revelation comes in response to Mr. Edem’s insinuation earlier this week that former President J.A. Kufuor’s confinement to a wheelchair is a result of his past actions while in office.
During an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time discussing Edem’s remarks about the esteemed statesman, Collins Owusu Amankwaa pointed out that the NDC representative should not have disparaged Kufuor, as it was under his National Health Insurance Policy that Edem received treatment for his hernia.
“It is worth noting that Dela Edem benefited from Former President Kufuor’s initiatives such as free maternal care, delivery services for pregnant women, screenings for cocoa farmers, and capitation, including health insurance. Having worked closely with Dela on numerous occasions, I can attest to the fact that it was through Kufuor’s Health Insurance that he was able to repair his hernia.’
“I’m telling you point blank that, Kufour’s health insurance helped Dela Edem to remove his Hernia so he should’ve thanked ex-President Kuffuor rather than insulted him. He should have thought deeply about his comments on Kufuor.” Collins Owusu Amankwaa discosed.
