Leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has made a controversial statement regarding Free Senior High School (Free SHS) and One District One Factory (1D1F) flagship programs of the New Patriotic Party.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Monday, 18 November 2024, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen claimed that the NPP’s victory in the 2016 elections was largely due to his policy, the 1D1F policy, rather than the highly-touted Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
“NPP used Free SHS policy since 2008 and yet they couldn’t win elections. But when I introduced 1D1F, that’s what made the difference. So whenever I say I can bring jobs to the people, it’s all about industrialisation.” Alan told Kwesi Parker Wilson.
According to Kyerematen, the 1D1F policy, a flagship program of the NPP’s 2016 campaign, resonated deeply with Ghanaians, particularly in rural areas where economic opportunities are scarce.
He argued that the policy’s promise of industrialization and job creation struck a chord with voters, ultimately contributing to the NPP’s electoral success.
