The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has urged the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider its planned strike, set for Thursday, November 7, 2024.
CLOGSAG, on November 4, announced the strike in response to frustrations over the government’s delay in implementing a long-negotiated salary structure.
The association cited the government’s failure to enact salary adjustments agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) more than a year and a half ago, leaving members feeling compelled to take action.
FWSC, however, is appealing to CLOGSAG to suspend the strike and return to the negotiating table, stressing the government’s commitment to addressing the salary concerns.
“We want to reiterate that the government is willing to engage with CLOGSAG to find lasting solutions to its demands without compromising the principles of the Single Spine Pay Policy.
“We, therefore, urge CLOGSAG to reverse its decision to strike and resume negotiations for a timely resolution,” the statement read.
