The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has accused the Akufo-Addo-led government of blaming him and COVID-19 for their poor performance.
The former President says he is baffled by the fact that President Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have failed to own up to their mistakes and the economic hardship being experienced in the country.
Speaking to voters in Zabzugu in the Northern Region, Mr. Mahama made promises to woo voters but must be able to accept responsibility for failing to fulfill them.
John Mahama has been touting his qualities of trustworthiness, responsible leadership, and truthfulness as reasons why he should be elected president. He has also promised to accept responsibility for any challenges the country may face if he becomes president and to work hard to resolve them.
Mahama criticized his main contender, Dr. Bawumia, for following in the footsteps of Akufo-Addo and urged voters to reject him.
“We don’t want leaders who will always push the blame on others, and that is the NPP for you. When they came, in the first four years, everything that was going wrong was blamed on Mahama.
“When Ghanaians were tired of Mahama and they won again, they moved to COVID-19 in the fifth year and today to the Russia-Ukraine war. People who cannot face challenges and fix them can never change your lives,” he stated.
