Residents in communities within the Juaben Municipality on Wednesday afternoon benefited from the love extended to them by members of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) as they shopped for household items freely at the Adu Boahen Square.
The church through its neatly dressed volunteers and workers had assembled clothes, school uniforms, shoes, detergents, toiletries, drinks and biscuits for distribution to patrons including school pupils, women and men who had thronged the arena.
In long queues, the residents took turns picking the items on display, residents had to show tickets given to them by volunteers so they did not pick more than necessary.
Getting preferential treatment, Nursing mothers walked to pick clothes, detergents, toiletries and dresses for themselves and their kids.
However, men had tickets to pick one jacket, a t-shirt, a tie and a pair of shoes.
Similarly, ladies had tickets to pick a dressing bag, pair of shoes, and a dress or cloth at the stands where the items were on display.
Rationale:
Speaking to the media, the Resident Pastor at CCC, Reverend Joshua Obeng said the church through its Charity Project made the items available for the residents.
The items, he explained had been assembled through the contributions of its members and non-members including some Sri Lankan companies in Ghana.
He noted that the exercise was to allow the people of Juaben to have provisions for themselves and their kids.
“As a church we believe in following the admonitions of Christ through and thoroughly and so for us we are rooted in the mindset which says actions matter more than mere words, hence the provision of these items to the people of Juaben”, Rev Obeng stated.
Reverend Obeng stressed that CCC had embarked on an evangelism drive since the 1st of October and would climax same with a Juaben for Christ Crusade on Thursday and Friday.
This Crusade, he noted would culminate in the eventual planting of churches in Juaben including the construction of training centres and schools to educate the people.
Reverend Obeng also mentioned that CCC believes in the use of a holistic approach to the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, hence the donation of items to the Juaben Government Hospital as well as the provision of household items to the people.
“Our aim as a church is to minister to the needs of the people and we are using our Juaben For Christ Crusade to achieve all that and to ensure that the people are rooted in the teachings of the Bible as well as grow in the same”, the CCC Resident Minister stated.
