In a significant step towards economic gender parity, the Menaye Finance Initiative has launched a series of financial literacy workshops aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in Ghana.
Funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council and in collaboration with the University of Leicester, this initiative seeks to address the financing gap faced by women-led and women-owned Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (WSMEs) in Ghana.
The workshops, themed “Navigating Finance for Growth,” will take place in major cities across Ghana, including Kumasi, Takoradi, and Accra.
Participants will learn essential skills for business financing, including understanding bank financing, exploring alternative financing options, and practical financial management tools.
Dr. Priscilla Vitoh, project lead for the Menaye Finance Initiative, emphasized the importance of the workshops, stating, the workshops will provide a golden opportunity for women who own or lead small businesses to either learn or enhance their knowledge on essential skills for business financing.”
The Menaye Finance Initiative partners with notable entities, including British Council Ghana, Ashesi University, and Social Entrepreneurship Hub, to empower women entrepreneurs and contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.
The workshops are designed for any woman who leads or owns a small or medium-scale enterprise (SME).
