National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama has launched a blistering attack on his main contender, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, saying he lacks vision and strategies to rescue Ghana from its current economic woes.
Addressing residents in Kintampo North, Mahama asserted that Bawumia has run out of ideas and development strategies, and that Ghanaians should not expect anything extraordinary from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if re-elected on December 7.
Mahama urged the electorate to vote massively for the NDC to bring about the desired economic change, highlighting his party’s plans for a 24-hour economy and the National Apprenticeship Programme.
The former President’s comments came on the first day of his campaign tour in the Bono East region, where he emphasized his message of hope and a prosperous future.
Mahama’s visit to Kintampo, an area plagued by high unemployment, was seen as an opportunity to connect with the hundreds of unemployed youth who he believes will benefit from his National Apprenticeship Programme.
With the December 7 elections looming, Mahama’s attack on Bawumia’s leadership abilities is likely to intensify the political debate in the coming weeks.
