Traditional Authorities in Doromakese Invoke Curses on NDC Flagbearer and Parliamentary Candidate
The chief of Doromakese, Obrempong Danso Abeam, and his elders have placed curses on National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama and parliamentary candidate Joseph Mensah, following a perceived disrespect.
On Monday, September 2, the traditional authorities were made to wait for 7 hours after being promised a courtesy visit by John Mahama, who was beginning his tour in the area. However, Mahama visited Doromakese without stopping by the palace, sparking anger among the traditional leaders.
According to them, Joseph Mensah had informed them that Mahama was in Kintampo and would join them soon, but they waited in vain until 7 pm, when they learned that Mahama had left the town.
In response, the traditional authorities have banned all NDC campaign activities in Doromakese and invoked the gods to deal with anyone who defies the ban. They called upon the town’s deity, ‘Tom Kramo’, and other powerful gods to punish anyone who votes for Mahama and Mensah in the upcoming elections.
This development has significant implications for the NDC’s campaign in the Bono East region, particularly in Doromakese, where the traditional authorities wield considerable influence.
