With the December elections approaching, Dr. Aaron Kumah, a Senior Lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has cautioned all political parties in Ghana to be highly vigilant.
He emphasized that the key to maintaining national peace lies in resisting any attempts to rig the elections.
Dr. Kumah stressed that political parties must prioritize fairness and transparency to prevent any disruptions to the electoral process. By doing so, they can help ensure a peaceful and credible outcome in the December polls
“I think no political Party should sit to allow another party to cheat. All parties should make sure the elections are transparent.”
His comments come at the back of the National Democratic Congress’s unwillingness to sign the National Peace Council’s Peace Pact.
He urged the NDC to sign the Peace Pact but advised the party to give the National Peace Council its terms and conditions.
“The NDC should sign the peace pact, but they should make the National Peace Council Aware that, they’re signing it for peace.”
Dr Kumah was speaking in a panel discussion on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, chaired by Kwesi Parker Wilson.
