The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has officially confirmed that former President John Mahama is the Government official implicated in the Airbus bribery scandal.
This announcement was made during a press conference held on Thursday, following the conclusion of the investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to Mr. Agyebeng, Mr. Mahama was identified as Government official one by both UK and US courts.
The OSP was able to establish his identity due to the fact that his tenure as Vice President coincided with the initial investigations conducted by the US and UK courts into the Airbus case.
Mr. Agyebeng emphasized the importance of investigating the scandal and revealing the identities of those involved, citing public interest as a key factor.
This confirmation aligns with a previous statement made by former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
Overall, the confirmation of Mr. Mahama’s involvement in the Airbus bribery scandal underscores the significance of transparency and accountability in government affairs.
“The OSP confirms the identity of the following individuals. The individual described as Government official 1 by the UK court and individual one by the US court is John Dramani Mahama. He is a citizen of Ghana and was the Vice-president of Ghana from 7 January 2009 to 24 July 2012,” the OSP stated.
He further established the identity of intermediary 5 and Samuel Adams Foster, a brother of Mr Mahama.
Mr Agyebeng also confirmed the identities of intermediary 6 and 7 respectively as Philip Sean Middlemiss and Sarah Leanne Davis who were business associates of Samuel Adams
