Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has made a bold claim that his four-year tenure as President was more impactful and effective than the eight years of the current administration under President Akufo-Addo.
He remarked that a good leader’s four-year term can bring about more significant changes than an extended period under a dishonest leader.
In the lead-up to the general elections, the NDC is focusing heavily on comparing performance records between the two administrations.
This performance comparison will be a central theme at campaign events and in political discourse.
Mr. Mahama acknowledged that his administration was not without flaws but asserted that it was superior to the current regime’s performance.
He reminded of the progress made during his time in office including building schools, interchanges, hospitals and markets while criticizing the ruling NPP’s governance.
The NDC is pushing for a reset in the country’s economic growth and governance.
Mr. Mahama highlighted the urgency for change and promised that his leadership would be characterized by honesty and transparency.
“I’ve been out of government for eight years now. I did my best, I wouldn’t say things were perfect, but at least we were making progress. What I can promise you is that I will be truthful to you, I will never tell you lies, I will never tell you things I cannot do,” Mahama stated.
