Mr. Shadrach Sarpei Kwadey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BankyeKrom Limited, has made a passionate appeal to the government to prioritize support for the cassava industry, similar to the support given to cocoa and other sectors.
According to Kwadey, cassava has the potential to generate more revenue than gold and cocoa combined, making it a vital sector for economic growth and youth employment.
Speaking at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church’s youth career fair, Kwadey stressed the need for a comprehensive policy framework to industrialize cassava production, processing, and marketing.
Kwadey also encouraged young people to take initiative and develop skills to benefit from the opportunities in the cassava industry. “Do something for yourself, and do it well,” he advised. “It will help you in your future development.”
The CEO’s call to action has resonated with stakeholders in the agriculture and industry sectors, who believe that cassava industrialization can drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve livelihoods.
