The former NPP Chairman for Fomena Constituency has praised Dr. Bawumia’s decision to choose Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister for Energy, as his running mate for the 2024 Presidential elections, calling it a wise choice.
This endorsement comes on the heels of reports that Dr. Bawumia presented Dr. Prempeh to President Akufo-Addo as his preferred running mate during a meeting last night, barely 24 hours prior.
Kwasi Nti Asamoah made this known in an interview on Oyerepa FM Thursday morning with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, explaining that Dr. Bawumia’s choice of running mate has brought so much hope and joy in the upcoming 2024 elections.
“We knew he was going to pick NAPO because among all the names that have been reported, I know it’s NAPO’s time and we believe it came right on time. We are confident that Dr. Bawumia leading NPP will have more than 85% of votes in the Ashanti Region because of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate,” he said.
Adding that they were very confident in Dr. Bawumia’s decision, citing their belief that he would select Dr. Prempeh as his running mate due to his impressive capabilities and exceptional track record, which has been consistently stellar throughout his tenure in various roles, from Education to Energy Minister, demonstrating top-notch performance without any blemishes.
“In fact, some of us knew NAPO was going to be picked as running mate to Dr. Bawumia and it’s not surprising at all because he has proven beyond all reasonable doubts that he is capable and can do the work better than all the other contenders,” he stated.
Although the party is yet to present the proposed running mate’s name to the National Council for ratification for an official public announcement to be made.
