The Deputy Minister of Education, Reverend Ntim Fodour, proudly announced that the NPP government has significantly increased the number of student enrollment in second-cycle institutions from 830,000 in 2016 to 1,450,000, all thanks to the implementation of the Free Education scheme.
During his speech at the 30th-anniversary celebration of Ayirebi Senior High School, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the government has allocated over GHS 129 billion towards the education sector. This investment has opened up doors for both affluent and underprivileged children to access high-quality education.
He stressed that the government’s objective goes beyond mere enrollment figures. The primary focus is on delivering top-notch education that equips students with the necessary skills to compete on a global scale.
Rev. Ntim Fodour further elaborated on the curriculum enhancements, emphasizing that students are being equipped with 21st-century skills to ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges of global competition.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced that his ministry will commence the construction of four teacher bungalows for Ayirebi Senior High School.
During a recent meeting, he disclosed that the district is home to two senior high schools and emphasized his dedication to working closely with the Ministry of Education and the District Chief Executive of Akyemansa to establish a tertiary institution in the region.
Mr William Amewuho, the Headmaster of Ayirebi Senior High School, emphasized the urgent requirement for infrastructure development at the school, urging the government and philanthropists to assist.
At present, the school has only seven classrooms to accommodate 1,500 students.
He listed the school’s needs, including a classroom block, dining hall, sick bay, kitchen, dormitory, and other facilities.”
