Dr. Frank Serebour, President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has dismissed claims that Deputy Finance Minister John died of food poisoning.
Following the sudden passing of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, rumours were circulating on social media suggesting that he was poisoned.
During an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on the Oyerepa Breakfast show Monday morning, Dr. Serebour emphatically stated that one cannot simply recover and resume normal activities after being poisoned, due to the potency of the substance involved.
He explained that while there are cases where individuals may survive after consuming food laced with chemicals that do not immediately harm them, food poisoning typically acts quickly once the contaminated food is consumed.
“There is no way one can survive poisoning food for a month or two unless there is a deliberate attempt by someone to poison you by adding some chemicals to your food regularly which would allow to to live but will be killing you slowly” he stated
After making the aforementioned statements, the widow, Apostle Lilian Kumah, officially complained to the police to investigate the allegations and uncover any mysteries surrounding her husband’s death.
She has urged the government and other stakeholders to implement measures to address the unequal distribution of healthcare personnel throughout the country.
