A Ghanaian woman named Elizabeth has recently opened up about the immense hardships she is facing in India. In a phone interview on the Oyerepa Afutuo show, hosted by Auntie Naa, Elizabeth bravely shared her story of survival.
During the interview, Elizabeth revealed that she is forced to sleep with six men each day to earn money for her basic needs. This shocking revelation sheds light on the desperate circumstances she finds herself in.
Elizabeth recounted how her journey began when she met a man named Mr. Alfred in Sunyani-Chiraa, Ghana. They started dating and eventually, she decided to move to Accra in search of employment opportunities.
To her dismay, Alfred informed her that he had received an offer from a woman in India. This offer involved working as a prostitute, a profession commonly known as “Ashawo.” Elizabeth initially rejected the proposition, but circumstances led her to India after they both exported yams to the country.
Upon arriving in India, Alfred abandoned her in the care of a woman who demanded a payment of $4,500. This unexpected turn of events left her in a dire situation, struggling to find a way to meet this exorbitant demand.
“When we got to India, Alfred left me there in the hands of a Ghanaian woman who was his ex-girlfriend… One day the woman came to me and said, I’m supposed to pay $4,500.…. She said I had to do Ashawo to get that amount…….”
“I sleep with six men, sometimes five each day, the least is two to get some amount to pay the woman. The Ashawo work is beyond my capacity, I can’t continue anymore.” She added.
Elizabeth disclosed on the show that, any means to contact Alfred had proven futile and that she needed the assistance of Oyerepa Afutuo.
