The Ashanti Regional Executive Council of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has endorsed the removal of the national executives of the party by the National Executive Council (NEC).
NEC is the second-highest decision-making body of the party.
At a meeting in Kumasi in December 2023, NEC unanimously announced the removal of the national executives from office.
The council, subsequently set up an Interim Committee to run the party until new executives were elected.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, the regional Secretary, Abdul Salam, said the regional council was excited by the work of the Interim Committee since they took over.
The regional council has, therefore, encouraged the committee to continue with their work while warning that any regional or constituency executive who works with the removed National Executives will be sanctioned.
