Member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) legal team, Gary Nimako has said that Kennedy Kankam aspiring member of the Nhyiaeso constituency cannot contest until been cleared by the National Executive Committee of the party.
This comes after the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam appears to the vetting committee on Wednesday but was not allowed for what they described as breach of the party’s constitution.
According to the chairman of the committee in Ashanti Region, Kennedy Kankam is not fit to contest for the Nhyiaeso constituency until cleared by the National Executive Committee.
The former Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament and Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, was not allowed to go through the vetting process, with wild speculations of being disqualified.
Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show Thursday morning with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, the legal practitioner stated emphatically that there has not been any consideration per the rules of the vetting committee to include Hon. Kennedy Kankam on the ballot sheet.
“We are working with the party’s constitution, and there are rules to follow in this contest,” he said.
“He has not been disqualified but the matter is referred to the National executive committee and we will wait for them to clear him before he can constest” he added.
He explained that the only thing they are looking forward to is a recommendation from the National Executive Committee because they are the right people to determine whether he can contest or not.
“Now the National Executive Committee will have a clear look at the matter and bring out its verdict, and that is the only way he can contest or disqualify,” he said.
