The Deputy Director General of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) David Prah has cautioned all principals of various schools over the collection of unauthorized monies and items from students before given admission.
His comments come after the Management of the Ghana TVET Service interdicted the Principal of Cape Coast Technical Institute and other 3 principals.
The interdiction follows the alleged collection of unauthorized fees amounting to GHe 760.00 from each of the Form One students during the admission process of the 2023/24 academic year.
In an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show Monday, Mr Prah explained that the illegalities in the various schools are something they can no longer tolerate hence the need to crack the whip to deter the rest from emulating such bad actions.
“I am happy we have been able to embark on such action to help sanitize our education system” he stated.
He said management will not spare any principal or head of school who is caught taking unauthorized monies and items from students before entry.
“Anyone who will take unauthorized monies and items from parents before given admission will have to face this same situation, “ he said.
He also expressed his total disappointment over students being denied admission because they can not afford items and monies required by some heads of schools.
“There shouldn’t be any extra bill on parents before getting admission to their wards which is not done that way” he added.
Meanwhile, the Management of Ghana TVET Service has therefore, directed Mr. Lovelace Ayensu to hand over the administration of the Institute to the Central Regional Director of the Ghana TVET Service and cooperate with the Committee set up to investigate the matter.
