Market women at Kaneshie Market in Accra are calling on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong as its flagbearer.
The ruling party will hold its presidential primaries on November 4, 2023, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the upcoming 2024 election.
Most of the NPP MPs and the party leaders have publicly declared their support for the vice president, and many Ghanaians, including the other three contestants, believe the party executives will conduct the election in favor of Dr. Bawumia.
Similarly, other sections of Ghanaians believe that Dr. Bawumia is the vice president and head of the economic management team. He is part of the government that has led the country into current economic hardships, so he (Bawumia) cannot serve as president again.
In a conversation with Oyerepa TV’s Kwesi Parker-Wilson, the Kaneshie women said they want the NPP delegates to elect Kennedy Agyapong as the presidential candidate.
“We want Kennedy Agyapong. He is honest. We want Kennedy; we don’t want Bawumia. We will die when Bawumia is elected president. Even his father, Akufo-Addo, did not do anything. How much more, Bawumia? He is part of our suffering.” They said.
