Nneka Youth Foundation, a non governmental organization working in 440 communities across Ghana has hosted over 1,500 children at NNEKA Youth development center at Ve Agbome in the Afadzato South district of the Volta region.
Students were taught vocational skills training such us beeds making, reusable sanitary pads, using cassava flour to make pastries among others.
The founder of NNEKA Youth Foundation, Cecilia Fiaka said most of the school children in the rural areas drops out from school due to teenage pregnancies and also ends up becoming drug addicts.
She said her organization is working hard through it’s mentorship programs to help solve these problems.
The Youth Advisory Board Chairperson for Marie Stopes, Delali Fayorsey during the program, educated the children on menstruation hygiene, she also urged the general public to come on board and empower young ladies to have healthy menstrual cycle.
The education director for Afadzato South District, Akpene Ame-Gruse extended her gratitude to Cecilia Fiaka and her foundation for the good done and giving hope to students in her district.
