A Political Science lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. E.T Amanor Lartey has indicated that Alan John Kyerematen who has withdrawn from the impending New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries won’t win the 2024 general polls should he decide to go solo.
Alan issued his resignation on the NPP flagbearership race in a presser last evening following certain circumstances he faced during the Super Delegates conference.
After his withdrawal, a lot of Ghanaians have raised concerns that, he looks likely to go independent.
But, speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Dr Amanor said, the political career of the former trade minister has ended. He will lose abysmally should he decides to run as an independent candidate.
According to him, people should stop assuming that, Alan Kyerematen could win a lot of votes in Ashanti Region if he goes solo.
“If he goes independent he doesn’t have the support to win elections …. And if he forms his own party, he’s not carrying the Ashanti Region votes. Because the tradition of the NPP isn’t an Ashanti tradition so if he believes that he will amass Ashanti votes when he goes independent, it’s not true.”
