Dr. Anthony Nsia Asare, the Presidential Advisor on Health at the Presidency, has revealed that the Ashanti Region has received 19 out of the 111 projects outlined in President Akuffo Addo’s Agenda 111 initiative.
According to Dr. Asare, the health projects have been divided into eight zones, with the Ashanti Region falling under Zone 8. This means that the region will benefit from the construction of 19 hospitals as part of the Agenda 111 projects.
During an exclusive interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, Dr Asare provided an update on the progress of the projects. He highlighted that many of the facilities are beginning to take shape, with significant progress made in terms of the physical structures.
Furthermore, Dr. Asare emphasized the presence of a monitoring team, which has already visited 33 out of the 54 project sites. This team ensures that the construction process is closely monitored and any issues are addressed promptly.
“As I speak to you now health systems in this country are phenomenal,” he stated.
However, he expressed great satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing projects adding that about 86 % of the Agenda 111 projects will be completed first of 2024.
He also hinted that there are other projects in some specific districts which are yet to be commenced due to difficulties in finding land for them.
The development of these hospitals in the Ashanti Region is a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in the area. It demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of Ghana.
