Ghanaian actress, TV presenter, and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo Baah has lamented the ailing state of the movie industry.
She said that the industry is “dead” and that there is “absolutely nothing happening towards reviving it.”
Afaglo made these comments on UTV Showbiz Night, where she discussed the factors that have contributed to the decline of the movie industry.
She cited the lack of funding and unavailable resources as major problems, as well as the fact that private individuals who invest in producing content often do not make their money back.
“We were holding onto hope, thinking it will bounce back,” Afaglo said. “But it seems far-fetched. Truth be told, the industry is dead.”
Afaglo’s comments come at a time when the Ghanaian movie industry is facing a number of challenges. In recent years, the industry has seen a decline in the number of films being produced, as well as a decrease in the quality of those films.
This has led to a decrease in the audience for Ghanaian movies, both locally and internationally.
